Associate in Business

YVCC Business Student Matthew Evans enrolled at Yakima Valley Community College so he could stay close to his family and in the community he loves. “I chose to be in the accounting/business program after I took a full year of accounting in high school where I excelled at the concepts.  I pursued several job shadows in the accounting fields and I felt this was the career direction I would enjoy,” stated Evans. “I like YVCC’s program because the staff is amazing!  They always take time out of their busy schedule to help you succeed, from scheduling classes, to helping with school work, or giving you advice and direction about the profession you’re going into,” he continued. To help pay for his education Evans received scholarships from the YVCC Foundation for both his freshman and sophomore years. “I am so grateful for these scholarships because they have allowed me to focus on my education by taking some of the financial burden off of me and my family,” he concluded. He will graduate from YVCC in 2014. He plans to transfer to Central Washington University where he will pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
