Associate in Arts

Liliana Rangel was born and raised in Sunnyside, Washington. While growing up she traveled back and forth between the United States and Jalisco, Mexico with her family. She graduated in 2013. After high school she spent a couple of years working as a server at Bon Vino’s Bistro and Bakery. With the encouragement of family and friends, she decided to enroll at YVC in the fall of 2015.

“At first I was interested in attending Central Washington University,” stated Rangel. “But after realizing how much it would cost per year to attend and being unsure what I wanted to do, I decided that YVC was a better fit for me,” she continued.

Outside the classroom Rangel is an officer in the Healthy Teeth student club. She also holds a work-study position in the arts and sciences division, working in Glenn Anthon Hall.

This June Rangel graduates with her associate in arts degree. She has applied for admission to YVC’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene program. “I don’t think I would’ve realized that I wanted to pursue dental hygiene without YVC. All of my professors have been really helpful. They help you work toward your goals and help you not give up. I don’t think I would’ve made it this far at a big university,” she concludes.
