Associate in Arts
Callie Segraves was born in Oakland, California and then moved with her parents to the Yakima Valley. She attended Selah schools and at age 16 enrolled in YVCC’s Running Start Program. “Running Start helped motive me to challenge myself, explore new subjects, and mature,” stated Segraves. Excelling in her coursework, Segraves graduated with an associates of arts transfer degree in June 2011.
In addition to her coursework as a Running Start student, Segraves was involved with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG), a non-profit organization that teaches the importance of service and leadership to girls ages 11-20. “As a member of IORG, I also served as an elected leader at the state level. Being a leader of 500 young girls helped me make a huge impact on the organization and change the lives of many,” concluded Segraves.
A year later she returned to YVCC to complete prerequisite course before transferring to Washington State University to pursue her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
